Benjamin Bernheim

French Tenor

Join us as for an intimate evening with the opera singer whom Opera Magazine describes as having a "...luminous timbre, the piercing high notes accompanied by a rare intelligence of phrasing".

Listen in as Benjamin Bernheim speaks, in English, about his experiences onstage, notably the most recent production of Charles Gounod's Faust at the Opéra National de Paris, first broadcast on March 26th of this year.

Benjamin will also address the importance of the French repertoire for which his voice is particularly adapted, and will touch on how the current Covid crisis has affected his and other young singers' 2020/2021 season.

This is a can't miss opportunity, register below!

Benjamin's recent seasons have established him as a regular guest artist at Europe’s leading opera houses, including the Opéra National de Paris, Wiener Staatsoper, Staatsoper Berlin and the Royal Opera House in London where he regularly performs leading tenor roles from the romantic repertoire. Garnering high praise with his diverse performances as well as his 2019 debut album with Deutsche Grammophon, he has been hailed as the most beautiful tenor voice since Luciano Pavarotti by the Süddeutsche Zeitung and "the new star tenor" by Diapason. Among other highly acclaimed international awards, he was most recently named "Artiste lyrique de l'année" (2020) at the Les Victoires de la Musique Awards in France.

Career highlights include Rodolfo in La Bohème, Des Grieux in Manon, Duca di Mantova in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Lensky in Tchaikovski’s Eugene Onegin, Alfredo in La Traviata, Gounod’s Faust (title role) and Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore.

Benjamin studied with Gary Magby at the Lausanne Conservatoire, participated in masterclasses with Giacomo Aragall, attended Carlo Bergonzi’s Accademia Verdiana in Busseto, and was a young artist at the Opernhaus Zürich.
