Rym Momtaz

POLITICO Europe’s Senior Correspondent, France

Join us in the beautiful gardens of Columbia University's Reid Hall for this special Happy Hour including a candid talk with POLITICO's correspondent Rym MomtazEnjoy a glass of wine and light nibbles while listening to Rym share her vast experience as a journalist and correspondent - from her almost decade-long role as a war correspondent in the Middle East to her sought-after position as Europe's Senior Correspondent, France at POLITICO

Don't miss this opportunity for an up-close and personal account of what it's like working alongside France's current Macron administration (especially in light of the upcoming 2022 presidential election), how transparent ISIS officials really are, and what it means to be awarded a coveted Emmy (as well as six nominations)!

Since joining POLITICO in 2019, Rym Momtaz has been covering Emmanuel Macron's politics and foreign policy - from his European policies, to the transatlantic alliance, Russia, China, Libya and beyond. She has published must-read articles such as The Macron MethodThe think-tanker-in-chief and It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Emmanuel Macron, the latter about his management of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, Rym focuses primarily on Macron's domestic positioning in view of his reelection campaign, as well as the interplay between the causes of Islamist radicalization, the rise of populism and the migration in Europe.

Prior to her current role, Rym spent seven years working as a Producer at ABC News (2011 - 2018), covering major news stories across the Middle East, U.S. and Europe including Macron’s rise to power, the 2015 attacks in Paris, Brussels and Bamako, and the battles for Raqqa and Mosul.

Rym took a hiatus from journalism in 2010-2011 to serve at Lebanon’s mission to the UN during the country’s mandate on the Security Council. In that role she was part of the team that negotiated the resolutions authorizing military intervention in Libya.

Register now for this special Happy Hour as we end the Club season with a bang!
