Sep 30: MESSAGE TO U.S. CITIZENS!!!
U.S. Election Countdown Less Than 40 Days to Vote !
Here are some useful tips on registering and voting by absentee ballot.
Q. Can I vote in-person at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate on Election Day?
There are no provisions for voting machines at U.S. embassies or consulates. You may not go to the embassy on Election Day to vote the way you do at home. You may only vote from abroad by using by mail absentee ballots.
Q. How do I register to vote, or apply for a by-mail absentee ballot?
To ensure that your ballot is counted, you must register now! Don’t wait or it will be too late.
You may register and request an absentee ballot with a single form: The Federal Post Card Application. This application form is accepted by all States and territories. Hard copies of the form can be obtained from a U.S. embassy or consulate by contacting us. Visit the Federal Voting Assistance Program website for further details. U.S. embassy and consular officials can witness election materials (if required), and provide other absentee voting assistance and information.
Q. When should I receive my by-mail absentee ballot?
States and territories are required to mail ballots 30 to 45 days before an election. If you have not received your ballot 30 days (October 6, 2012) before the election, contact your local election official (contact information available on most State election sites) or contact us. We can provide you with a back-up Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot.
Always complete and return your regular absentee ballot regardless of when you receive it, even if you have already submitted a back-up Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot. Your local election official will ensure that only one of the ballots is counted.
